SISA AGM postponed |

Due to the Christchurch Earthquake the SISA AGM has been postponed. A new date will be advised once the dust has settled.
Our thoughts are with the Joyces, McNeils and Courtney's and other members of the Northside boardriders who have lost there homes this week due to the quake. (at least you looked good on TV, Lewis).
Best wishes to any other members of the Christchurch surfing community who have been affected by the quake. I hope your damage is not too bad. |
Tucker Does Panama |

When a chance to surf pumping waves in Central America with water temperatures of around 30 degrees came along, Tony (Tucker) Low of North New Brighton grabbed it and ran. When Tuck was around at his mate’s house checking surf forecasts on the web they noticed a link to the World Masters Surfing Contest in Panama. Being a bit of a surf adventurer Tuck said “I’m there” and two months later in a roundabout way he is “there”.

| This is notice that the proposed date of the SISA AGM will be held on Saturday the 11th of September 2010. We will confirm location but assume it will be at the New Brighton Working Mens Club. |
Paparoa Surf Festival |

| Just a Heads up Zane Smith is again looking at running the Paparoa Surf festival over the coast, everyone that attended last year raved about it. The proposed weekend is the 25th September 2010. so, anyone with potential clashes with any other surf event let us know. otherwise info will be posted over the next couple of weeks |

Lee has been great for the South Island for the last five years and hope we can get some exposure down here. |

The South Island Surfing community lost a great friend last week.
Pete Bell - RIP
His funeral is on this Saturday at the Barrytown Hall, 2pm

Sadly Pete will not make it out the back for another wave, will not hear the rhythm of a friends guitar, view the life surrounding him through a lens or write his words upon our lives. |

The final ratings for the circuit have been tallied.
Northside takes out the club title.
Congratulations to Hayden Brain, Open Mens champion and Kristi Zarifeh Open Womens champion. Other winners are Anthony Hema, Seniors; Sam Courtney , Juniors and Cadets; Dan Warren, Longboard; Neil Robb, Grand Masters; Jonathan Harris, Masters; Kristi Zarifeh, Junior Womens; Eve Welsh,Womens Longboard.

ISA Level 1 Judging Course - (26th June in Christchurch New Brighton Boardriders Club) |

We have low numbers registered for this course therefore there will be 100% subsidy for all participants still places available.
The Course is for Competitors, Club Members and surfers anyone who has an interest in the competitive evolvement of the sport.
SISA is able to offer this course in conjunction with Surfing New Zealand.
We have been able to obtain funding with help from the Lion Foundation which will subside the course by $250.00 therefore, the cost to you is Free.

What does SISA do ?
SISA is the regional sports body for the sport of surfing in the South Island and was incorporated in 1992. Its aim is to promote South Island Surfing and encourage member clubs to host events that will enable promising surfers to gain competitive experience for other national and international events.
SISA has an executive membership of 6 under the Presidency of Mark Perana. Executive members are elected annually at AGM. The office is situated at 73 Cygnet Street, North Beach, Christchurch 8009. All members of the Executive work on a voluntary basis. The affiliated membership currently stands at 16 clubs with a total of over 750 members. SISA has a Technical Director Aaron Lock and Coaching Director Mark Perana.
SISA caters for a broad cross section of the community and through the 16 affiliated clubs cover all the forms of surfing - longboard, shortboard, bodyboard and bodysurfing.
SISA is affiliated to Surfing NZ, the national body for surfing in New Zealand.
